CLAYTON BROTHERS QUINTET
The spring JAZZ at TSRI series begins with the swinging Grammy-nominated Clayton Brothers Quintet. A Grammy award winner, John Clayton has gained prominence as a bassist in both the jazz and classical fields. He is a composer/arranger/conductor who has played with and/or written and arranged music for Milt Jackson, Nancy Wilson, Ray Brown, Regina Carter, McCoy Tyner, Carmen McRae, Quincy Jones, Diana Krall, Kurt Elling, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole, and many others. Reed player Jeff Clayton has recorded important albums with, among others, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Kenny Rogers, Michael Jackson, Patti Labelle, Earth Wind & Fire, and Madonna. The quintet consists of Eric Reed on piano, Terell Stafford, a highly regarded trumpeter and band leader in his own right, and Obed Calvaire on drums.
Join us for a celebration of two decades of jazz with a series debut by the extraordinary Clayton Brothers Quintet and return visits by leading jazz saxophonist Joe Lovano (April 7) and the exquisite duo piano team of Bill Charlap and Renee Rosnes (May 9). Seating is limited and early reservations are advised!
ALL CONCERTS BEGIN AT 7:30 PM.
