Based on the book of the same name where Milo travels to the lands of number and language and attempts to rescue the princesses Rhyme and Reason against impossible odds.
Performances dates are Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm, Sundays at 2pm
September 15 through October 1, 2017
There will probably be daytime school shows during the second week — dates and
times of those shows depend on when/if the schools respond.
The actors will be auditioned in groups of up to 5 individuals for about 20 minutes.
The actors will work together through exercises and interactions. Trust, courage to try, range, energy and ability to have fun will be evaluated. The only preparation necessary is to come with a smile. Script and readings will be at the callbacks.
First and foremost, read the book and the play. See if there is a character that you’re interested in.
Second, although many of the characters seem to be bizarre they all have real needs that must be played.
And last, this is a verbal show. The actors need to be able to speak well.
Milo, Tock, The Princesses,AZAZ and the Mathemagician We are looking for actors who are comfortable being themselves and reacting believably.
The Ministers, Lethargarians, Miners will be played by the same 5 actors. They must be able to speak well and, very importantly, work together.
The Humbug The Whether Man, The Gatekeeper, The Dodecohedron, The Spelling Bee, The Awful Dynne, Dr. Discord, the Wordsnatcher, and the Demons of Trivium, Insincerity and Senses Taker are all characters that Milo meets on his adventure. Each actor will play more than one character so we are looking for versatile actors who can bring more than one character to life. These characters are painted with broad strokes physically and vocally. Have fun!
