Come to the Athenaeum's 28th annual gala on Friday, September 8, from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m.!
This year we celebrate the arts and culture of Mexico!
Each year, since 1990, the Athenaeum gala has featured a special theme with imaginative decor. This year’s theme is Mexico. This will be the most talked-about event of the season. Guests will enjoy a delectable themed dinner catered by the La Jolla Hyatt Regency. Mariachi performers will entertain guests inside the Athenaeum and out on the street. Gala guests always get into the spirit of the theme with extravagant costumes. Mexican or cocktail attire is suggested, and come wearing your dancing shoes! Attendees of Fiesta on Wall Street will be able to move their hips and sway their arms right out the front door onto Wall Street, as the road will be blocked off to allow for more dining tables, a dance floor, and themed performers. Guests will have the opportunity to bid in the Athenaeum's silent auction, featuring unique and exciting prizes.
The gala is the largest annual fundraiser and society event for the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, La Jolla’s oldest cultural institution and Southern California’s only membership library. Proceeds from the gala go directly to support the Athenaeum’s mission and programs. Tickets are $250 for general admission, $350 (partially tax-deductible) for “Angels,” who will receive recognition and a special gift, and $500 (partially tax-deductible) for “Archangels”. Archangels will receive an additional gift and special recognition at the gala. Admission includes valet service, open bar, served dinner, dancing, and live entertainment. The after party, Fiesta After Dark, 9-11:30 p.m., will feature live music by the Voices, street tacos and margaritas. Only $50 per person. Ages 21+
