Audiences will be treated to the music of two International touring women guitarists, together with the added backdrops by photo-artist Bryan Allen. Both truly citizens of the world in many ways, the program includes music and images from around the world.

Muriel Anderson is one of the premier international touring harp-guitarists and is also the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. Her «Nightlight Daylight» CD was named one of the top 10 CDs of the decade in Guitar Player Magazine’s 50th anniversary issue. Guitar World magazine listed Muriel Anderson as one of the eight most amazing female acoustic players. She has performed/recorded with Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Victor Wooten and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Her obvious joy of music, humor and her facility across the genres of folk, classical, jazz, bluegrass and international music is revered by guitarists worldwide. An engaging performer, Muriel’s unique approach to the instrument virtually transforms the guitar into a soulful Irish harp, then a marching band, then a Japanese koto, then a Bluegrass band, one minute launching into a Beatles’ tune and the next, a Spanish classic. Muriel is host of the renowned Muriel Anderson’s ALL STAR GUITAR NIGHT® and founder of the MUSIC FOR LIFE ALLIANCE charity.

Nadja Kossinskaja, a native of Kiev, Ukraine, is a winner of the “John Duarte competition” in Rust, Austria and also received prizes in 11 international guitar competitions. She graduated with honors from the Academy of Music at the University in Muenster, Germany and received a full right scholarship for the Accademie Musicale Chigiana, Italy with Prof. Oscar Ghiglia. She has been invited to perform solo and with various orchestras in Russia, Poland, Spain, Netherlands, Norway, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Portugal, Italy, Venezuela, India, Iceland and the USA. She also plays rock music, touring and recording with the well known German rock artist Peter Maffay. She has performed with Tommy Emmanuel, Boris Grebentschikow (“Aquarium“), Wolf Hoffmann (“Accept”), and John Lord (“Deep Purple”).

She enriched her experience as a musical educator by teaching the master classes in several schools including “Escuela de Música José Angel Lamas” in Caracas (Venezuela), Whitman College (USA). Besides her musical accomplishments she shows great interest in the sciences. Graduating from the school for gifted children in Kiew with emphasis in math and physics with summa cum laude, she continued her education with the study of radio electronics at National Polytechnic University and dentistry at and Medical University in Kiev.

This event is presented in conjunction with the Museum of Making Music's special exhibition «Floating Strings: The Remarkable Story of the Harp Guitar.» The exhibition is sponsored in part by Tonedevil Guitars and Harp Guitars.
