An evening devoted to Frida Kahlo in two parts. Enjoy a pop up concert inspired by the film «Frida» performed by the Art of Élan, then hop over to the auditorium for a screening of the film, directed by Julie Taymor and starring Salma Hayek. «Frida» is a biopic about Frida Kahlo, one of Mexico’s most iconic artists. (USA, 2002) Rated R.
Come dressed as Frida, her contemporaries, or her paintings for this night of events (no masks please). Tag yourself at the event with #FridaFridaySDMA. This event also marks the last few days to see the two paintings by Frida Kahlo, «Girl from Tehuacán, Lucha María or Sun and Moon» (1942) and «Survivor» (1938) from «Modern Masters from Latin America: The Pérez Simón Collection.» January 15th is the last day to view these two paintings. The rest of the Modern Masters exhibition will stay up for viewing until March 11.
