A selection of jazz standards including a composition by Duke Ellington (who played several concerts in Iran in 1963!). A few standards from the «jaaz» era — pre-1979 popular Iranian music with jazz, Latin, Armenian, Turkish, Afghani, Greek, and other influences — including a song by Jamshid Sheibani (1925-2009) and one from the great songwriter, Shayda (1843-1906).
Fresh arrangements of classical repertoire (radif) from dastgah Homayun, with poetry by Hafez and including Bakhtiari folk music and music from Torbat Jaam (from Honarestan Tar/Setar book #1!).
Original pieces and art songs with poetry by Nima Ushij (1897-1960) and Fereydoon Moshiri (1926-2000). Premiering a song by our singer Mahmood Shahmshiri written during the war for his hometown, Khorramshahr.
Always inspired by and dedicated to our teacher Mohammadreza Lotfi (1947-2014).
