SWIM, PADDLE AND RUN… how far will they go? As in years past, the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Program is conducting its annual Hawaii Day FUN raiser. On Wednesday, August 15th, the second session junior lifeguards will cover the equivalent distance from the Hawaiian Islands to San Diego (just over 2,600 miles) in one day. Participants will include junior lifeguards, interns, instructors, and lifeguard staff. Our goal is to raise money for the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Program / Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego (a non-profit 501c3 organization) through friends, family, and business sponsorship. Proceeds from Hawaii Day will be used to fund aquatic education and drowning prevention programs for the youth of San Diego. Including swim programs for physically challenged youth, a day/week at the beach for autistic children, Bridge to Beach activities for underprivileged youth, parent/tot swim lessons, scholarships and CPR training for junior lifeguards.
Here’s how it works, each junior lifeguard will be provided a sponsorship form to raise money. In addition, each junior lifeguard group will set a mileage goal (swimming, paddling, and running) they wish to attain on Hawaii Day. Each junior lifeguard has been encouraged to get sponsors while rigorously training during the session for the big day. Sponsorship can be a set dollar amount or a dollar amount for each mile achieved.
Donations can be submitted online through the eventbrite page (link below). Under tickets, select the assigned instructor along with am/pm session. Share your stories and this page online with your friends and family. This is a fun physically challenging day for our amazing Junior Lifeguards and they deserve all of our support!
How far will you go? How far will your team go?
Good luck SDJG's!!!
